Course Curriculum
(All 4 course sessions will be 45 minutes in person
at the Viking Education Center on Finn Hill)
Reading/reference material: Please Pass the Potatoes
It is recommended that students read the entire book, then go back to read
parts again for each session and assignment/exercise in the curriculum.
Session 1: Understanding Self/Addressing Fear
• Course Introduction:
o Discussion: Student expectations for attending this course
and why the course is of interest to them.
• Addressing Fear
o Premise: Change is the only constant. Whether you adapt
to it or not, it is inevitable. It can create fear of the
unknown or risk.
o Discussion: Addressing fear.
Session 2: Self-Management and Attitude
• Follow-up on Session 1
o Discussion: Homework exercise and the value of
understanding and dissipating fear.
• Understanding and Managing Self
o Premise: We cannot control others, we can only control
how we act and react as the basis for positive
relationships.
o Discussion: Introduce self-awareness as key to developing
positive relationships
